Lindsey Kapoor is a sculptor who lives and works in Chico, California. She has earned a BFA in Printmaking from California State University, Chico and is an active member of the arts community; displaying her work in many exhibitions around the north state. She was most recently featured in Hedges and Houses and Mothers and Children, a virtual exhibition hosted by the I like Your Work podcast.

Kapoor strives to find use for the waste created in everyday life. Junk mail, receipts, tea bags, coffee filters, magazines and more are collected and sorted. These materials are then cut, torn, rolled and folded as they undergo their transformation. Kapoor’s sculptures are a tangible expression of her awe felt while exploring the landscape of her home state. The peace of the outdoors brings her a sense of comfort and spiritual elation that is a necessary part of her studio practice. Her process is very repetitive and meditative, giving her a chance to reflect upon the material and its origins in the natural world. The reconstructed forms reference wildlife. They nod to their history, and a remind us that everything we use has a past.
